Covid-19 Coronavirus

UPDATE 05/11/2020
I'm still open for all patients, following the recent lockdown. As a medical business I am exempt from the current restrictions.

I will of course be doing all I can to keep you safe from any infections.

UPDATE 01/06/2020:
Following advice from the Government and my regulatory body (HCPC) and my professional body, The College of Podiatry, have advised that I may now start to treat patients who fall into the Green category of “mild conditions”. However this does not mean that I am returning to ‘normal’.

Firstly, I must still ensure that I give priority to treating my patients who are classed as Red and Amber as they are at a greater risk of critical limb issues. I will be calling patients who have been on my waiting list. Those with mild conditions in the Green category will be seen when I have prioritised my Red and Amber patients, which I am sure you will understand. Please bear with me as I work my way to you, but I am sure you will understand that I need to prioritise those with a greater need. I have increased my working hours to get through the backlog quicker, so I will be working Thursday morning's and Friday's in clinic and Wednesday's are home visits in Torquay and Ivybridge.  Decisions on who to treat and when is based on the likelihood of a patient developing an infection, wound or losing their limb. I thank you for your understanding as I process my backlog of urgent patients. I will be in touch with all of my cancelled patients as soon I can.

I am only booking a week ahead to allow maximum flexibility in case I become symptomatic. If you have a problem before you hear from me then please contact me on 01752 426075. I am booking the first of my Green patients in starting this week. However, if you are in pain, then please do contact me and I will fit you in as soon as I can.

UPDATE 20/05/2020:
I am now able to see a wider range of conditions including emergencies, urgent and moderate risk foot problems. Unfortunately I can't see low risk ones yet.  Please call 01752 426075 or email feet@ivybridgepodiatry.com and leave a message.  I will call you back with a lengthy triage risk assessment questionnaire to determine whether the risk of not treating you is greater than the risk of catching Covid-19.  This will vary depending on your individual medical history,  but please be assured that I will be doing all I can to reduce the risks of catching Covid-19 and will be offering appointments where it is appropriate.

STATUS: 23/03/2020
I'm sure that you are all concerned about the new Covid-19 virus and how it will affect your foot care.

Please be assured that you will be cared for to the highest standards within the current movement restrictions. At present I am still open for urgent and emergency appointments only.  This will be reviewed daily following the Government's and College of Podiatry's advice.

If you have an appointment already booked, I will call you a few days before to do a risk assessment of your needs and the safety of the appointment with regards to infection transmission. There is no need to cancel now.  If possible the appointment will be deferred until it is safe to carry it out.

Emergencies will still be treated as normal, so if you are in pain, please do call and we will discuss the most appropriate way to treat you.  This may be at your home, or the clinic depending on the individual case.  Please be assured that I will be using the highest infection control standards, including a superior mask (N99 standard), gloves and apron.

New patients are welcome whether temporary or permanent.  Appointments will be given based on clinical need and infection control requirements.

Please do stay at home wherever possible and follow the governments guidelines  https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus. It will protect both you and others from catching the virus.  Remember this is not just your life you are risking, it is everyone you see and it can be passed via something you touch.  Protect our NHS from being overwhelmed with sick people.
